British Airways: Brexit changes to national id cards for entering the UK

Following Brexit, from 1 October 2021, travelers will not be able to use an EU, EEA or Swiss national ID card to enter the UK unless they are exempt.

Check the latest UK Government advice for the full details to make sure you are able to travel.

A valid passport will be required.

In 2021, you’ll only need a visa if you will be staying for longer than 90 days.

From 2022, the EU will be introducing a European Travel Information and Authorisation System (ETIAS). This will be similar to the ESTA system for travelling to the USA and you’ll need to register your details online before you travel.

For EU citizens entering UK, currently, there is no indication of Visa requirement as long as they stay no longer than 6 months in the UK and they do not plan to work in the UK.
