Norse Atlantic Airways launches on June 3 the first direct flight between Athens and Los Angeles, strengthening the interconnection between Greece and the USA and marking an important step in transatlantic routes.
The new route will operate four times a week with Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft. Fares start from $269 (259 euros) and include free hand luggage. The flight duration is estimated at 13.5 hours.
“The route is not currently covered by other airlines. Athens is strategically important for our network and our goal is to make travel more accessible for everyone,” Norse founder and CEO Bjørn Tore Larsen said at a press conference in Athens
According to data presented by Ioanna Papadopoulou, director of communications and marketing at Athens International Airport (AIA), more than 100,000 passengers travelled between Los Angeles and Athens via stopovers in 2023. At the same time, the new direct connection is expected to boost connectivity to San Francisco – Athens’ second largest unserved market in the US.
Athens becomes the fourth European city, after London, Paris and Rome, to be connected directly to Los Angeles via Norse Atlantic Airways. The launch of the route reinforces the already growing momentum of air traffic flows between Greece and the US.
